Hi Joseph! Thanks for this valid question. You have to make sure to connect the floating cable to your Polaris control unit/caddy BEFORE submerging it to the pool. What other pool cleaner owners mistakenly do is to let the robot sink straight away. Make sure to submerge the robot vertically and wait for the bubbles to stop completely before you let the robot sink to the bottom of the pool, with the floating cable already attached to the control unit.

The control unit should be plugged only to a receptacle
protected by a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI), and never to an extension cord.

Your robot comes with a Quick Start Guide so read it through. But if you need any clarification, don’t hesitate to comment here, Joseph 🙂

Jamie, it is better to store your cleaner in a safe place. Make sure to avoid drying the Polaris in direct sunlight near the pool. It must be stored on its caddy, therefore drying quickly.
